A number of benefits are possible from participating in therapy including:
A therapist can assist you in managing personal growth and provide support, problem-solving skills, and coping strategies for issues such as depression, anxiety, stress management, employment challenges, and relationship troubles. The benefits you receive from therapy depend on how well you engage in the process and put into practice what you learn.
I do not accept any insurance. Payment is due in full at the time of service. If you want to submit a claim for out-of-network reimbursement, I will provide a detailed receipt that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please note that submitting an insurance claim will require that your mental health diagnosis be noted on the bill.
I do not prescribe medication. If you want to be evaluated for psychiatric medication, contact your primary care physician or a psychiatrist. If you are already taking medication, with your written permission I can coordinate care with your doctor.
Currently, most therapy sessions are conducted via a secure and easy-to-use telehealth platform (similar to Zoom or Skype). Dr. Bieberich can schedule in-person appointments if needed for an additional fee.
Although there are many advantages of online counseling (it’s convenient and effective), it’s not right for everyone. Online counseling (telehealth) works best for those with mild to moderate symptoms (not people who are suicidal or in crisis), are comfortable using technology, and have a quiet, private place to have their sessions.
I am available for a 15-minute telephone consultation prior to our first session. During the call, you may ask any questions that you have regarding therapy. Our first session is called a Diagnostic Interview and will last for 60 minutes. During this time, both parties can decide if I am the best person to provide the services you need in order to meet your treatment goals. Following our initial meeting, we may schedule one 50-minute psychotherapy session per week (or every other week) at a time that we agree on.
The initial session is the time for you to start to share your story, talk about your goals and what you would like to change. Another important aspect of the first session is deciding if I am the right person to assist you on this journey. So you may ask yourself a few questions, such as "Does Dr. Bieberich seem be be someone I can trust?" and "Do I feel comfortable talking to her?" We are establishing a relationship that will become the foundation for working together. You will begin to determine some goals; I will begin to determine how to help you get there.
Your right to privacy and confidentiality is of the utmost importance to me, and I do not wish to jeopardize your privacy. The session content and all materials relevant to your treatment will be held confidential unless the you request in writing to have all or portions of such content released to a specifically named person/persons. Limitations of confidentiality do exist and include:
Occasionally I may need to consult with other professionals in their areas of expertise in order to provide the best treatment for you. Information about you may be shared in this context without using your name.
While this written summary of exceptions to confidentiality should prove helpful in informing you about potential problems, it is important that we discuss any questions or concerns that you may have now or in the future.
Your first appointment will be 60 minutes long. Subsequent appointments are typically 50 minutes. If you are interested in a longer session (60-75 minutes) please contact me regarding availability and pricing.
Initially, many people find that one session per week works for them in providing continuity and momentum. Some people prefer to meet every other week to allow for time to implement strategies discussed in session. There may be times when meeting more than once a week is warranted. Every person and situation is unique and we will work together to find the pace that works best for you in meeting your therapy goals. Therapy may continue for a few months or for several years depending on your goals.
Cancellations and re-scheduled sessions will be subject to a full charge if NOT RECEIVED AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE [unless both parties agree that you were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control such as illness or inclement weather]. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are late for a session, you will be charged for the time that was scheduled.
I am not able to guarantee 24-hour emergency care. If you believe you need 24-hour care and/or crisis intervention, I will be happy to refer you to a therapist or clinic that provides this service. Please discuss this with me immediately, so that an appropriate referral can be made. I am often not immediately available by telephone. When I am not available, my telephone is answered by voice mail that is checked daily. If you are experiencing an emergency call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For mental health emergencies, please go to your nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1.
